It all started when…

Bhesh’s mother was cleaning in the area around the fire. Somehow the fire jumped out of the pit and swept the house up in flames. The fire occurred on February 28. Bhesh, 14 years old, and his mother made it to the Nepal Cleft and Burn Center by March 2nd. The trip took 3 days because their home is in western Nepal, a very mountainous region. His mother received 30% burns on her body as well as severe inhalation burns. She died on March 9th. We saw Bhesh on March 11th. He had deep burns on his hands and face. He will survive, but with very deep scarring. Bhesh will require numerous surgeries and skin grafts. His hands are covered with casts, but he was still able to thank NCBC and all of our donors with his raised hands saying Namasté.
